Summer University to Introduce New Features
Every year, HSE Summer University creates new opportunities for its participants - both students and researchers. The programme is becoming more and more versatile and the range of fields of study is constantly growing. In 2018, about 200 international students from all over the world took part in the Summer University. This year, participants are invited to choose from a larger pool of courses and even travel to Siberia.
For the first time, the SU programme will include courses on law: Modern Russian Justice: Remedies, Procedures and Trends; Comparative Civil Procedure; and Human Rights Law. These courses are intended for students and researchers who are interested in the problems of Russian and international legislation in a comparative perspective.
This year international students of the Summer University will have a unique opportunity to visit the first Russian city in Siberia – Tyumen, which was founded in 1586. In 2017 the University of Tyumen opened a new division – the School of Advanced Studies (SAS). The school focuses on a global discussion of the current problems of social and humanitarian knowledge, as well as their relationship with IT and biology.
The research programme implies the creation of teams, which will ensure close communication of the participants in different disciplines and will be integrated into international academic networks. Together with the School of Advanced Studies at the University of Tyumen, SU participants will study modern problems from the perspective of Humanities.
HSE also continues to work closely with DAAD – in 2019, the Summer University received 7 scholarships for students from Germany. To receive the scholarship, applicants will have to undergo a competitive selection process, which is carried out by the representatives of DAAD partner organizations and invited professors from German and Russian universities. The results of the selection will be announced in May.
Summer University 2019 will run from June 20 to August 20, 2019 and offer courses in Russian Studies, Culture&History, Economics, International Relations, Business&Management, as well as Computer Science. Students can take part in Undergraduate Research Experience programme in Mathematics, supervised by the HSE’s Faculty of Mathematics. In addition to specialized courses, everyone is welcome to join Russian as a Foreign Language classes offered at various levels. It will also be possible to spend a week or two in Saint Petersburg or Nizhny Novgorod where HSE has its campuses.
You can apply online until April 15. Students of HSE partner universities or former participants of Summer University are eligible for discounts.
