Applications for International Study Tour Experience Open Until October 31
Registration is now open for the international Study Tour Experience, which gives foreign master’s applicants an opportunity to spend two weeks living as HSE University students and choose a master’s programme for further study. The Study Tour Experience will take place from November 14–28 and is available both online and in-person. Russian- and English-taught tracks are available. Participants are selected based on motivation letters.
The Study Tour Experience is aimed at foreign university graduates and final-year bachelor’s students who are considering applying to an HSE University master’s programme. It is open to applicants from all countries—all you need is a willingness to experiment and discover new frontiers of possibility.
The project gives future HSE University applicants an opportunity to learn more about the content of various master’s programmes, lecturers’ requirements, the level of students, and the overall quality of education. The participants will be able to choose various courses aimed at deepening their knowledge in the chosen field. There will be both Russian- and English-taught tracks.
Alexander Deev, Director of international Admissions at HSE University
The international Study Tour Experience is a unique opportunity for international applicants to immerse themselves in student life, experience the HSE University atmosphere, and figure out which field and master’s programme suits them best. There are currently two tracks—one taught in Russian and one in English—and there are five completely different subject areas. We hope that every participant will find a track and subject area that suits their interests. We would be delighted to see these participants back at HSE University in the 2023/24 academic year as students.
This year, there are English- and Russian-taught tracks in Business and Management, Finance and Economics, Psychology and Cognitive Sciences, and Social and Political Sciences. Law is currently available only in Russian. Participants of the Russian-language track can still apply for master’s programmes in English as well as Russian. The English-taught track comprises only those master’s programmes taught fully in English.

When I read about the Study Tour Experience on the #ЛЕЧУвВышку Telegram channel (in Russian) and the possibility of taking part online, I was very happy. I have been interested in finance for a long time, so I decided to apply for this field.
I liked all of the courses, particularly Macroeconomics of Financial Markets and Investment Analysis and Financial Modelling. The lecturers conveyed the information in a clear and structured way, and the lectures were interesting. In fact, some things were new to me, and I took notes.
Thanks to the Study Tour Experience, I learned quite a lot of new information that I was then able to use in my practical classes at university. I took part in the Economist student research group, where I applied my new knowledge in a short report. I am grateful to HSE University for organising such programmes both online and in person. They make a lot of people happy and feel like they are part of the HSE University team, if only for a while.
There were 539 applications to the Study Tour Experience in the spring semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. A total of 226 applicants passed the selection process. The programme took place in HSE University’s campuses in Moscow and St Petersburg. Since then, the number of master’s programmes involved in the programme has expended, as has the range of courses available.

I decided to study on the Management programme in order to apply for a master’s in a related field. Everything was first-class. Every lecturer provided useful material that will come in handy in the future for deeper immersion in the profession. The course laid the foundations for a full understanding of the specifics of the industry, and you can confidently use the knowledge obtained to prepare for entrance exams or student competitions. Without a doubt, the Study Tour Experience is a huge benefit that can be included in your portfolio or CV.
Applications for the Study Tour Experience are open until October 31. The results of the competitive selection process will be announced on November 5.
