Campus news at HSE University

Emmanuel Adu Sarfo, 23, from Ghana, is a second-year master's student on the HSE Economics and Economic Policy programme. He is carrying out research on the ancient roots of corruption that influence its prevalence in different countries. Emmanuel talked to the HSE News Service about his studies and research at HSE University in Moscow.

On November 25th, the HSE Pokrovka building hosted the ‘The Whole World in HSE’ festival, which brought together HSE students from Indonesia, Korea, China and Armenia, as well as Europe, Latin America, and various Russian regions, to celebrate the university’s 30^th anniversary.

Thirty years ago, on November 27, 1992, a historical event happened: the Russian government issued Order No. 917 ‘On the establishment of Higher School of Economics’. In the three decades since then, the university has evolved from a small school for economists to a multidisciplinary university; it has become an intellectual community that makes a contribution to the well-being of the country and the world.

HSE University’s rector has congratulated students, teachers, employees, researchers, and graduates on the university’s 30th anniversary. He said that HSE University’s history was impressive for its swiftness—in just three decades, it has become one of Russia’s best and largest universities, joined the international academic community, achieved good rankings, and is now successfully competing for talent globally.

A project about mental health, which includes the podcast ‘Vse OK’ (‘It’s OK’) and the Telegram channel ‘Zdes o sebe’ (‘About yourself’), has been nominated in the 13th International InterComm Awards in the field of corporate communications, 2022. The science and education project ‘Dlya Ponimaniya’ (‘For Understanding’) aggregating the materials of HSE Daily and IQ.HSE on the Zen, Odnoklassniki and Telegram platforms has been submitted for the ‘Znanie’ (‘Knowledge’) award. A delegation from the embassy of Armenia has visited HSE University. Vice Rector Victoria Panova and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation Vagharshak Harutyunyan discussed prospects for cooperation in education and science.

On November 10, HSE University welcomed Hans Dannenberg Castellanos, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Russia. The ambassador met with HSE University Vice Rector Victoria Panova to discuss ways of expanding educational cooperation between the two countries.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals took place on November 6–11 in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. The team from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) took ninth place, winning bronze and achieving the best result among Russian universities.
